As commonly if a man sleep in sin, and rise not in time, one sin will draw on another; for there is never a sin alone, but always the greater and more heinous the sin be, it has greater and worse sins waiting on it.

Robert Bruce, Sermons on the Sacrament (The Fourth Sermon)

In the arena

Stop and name one sin you've been tolerating. Not the big dramatic one. The quiet one. The shortcut, the half-truth, the habit you keep excusing. Write it down on paper tonight. Then confess it out loud to God. Be specific. No waffle words or euphemisms. If there is a victim (for example, of your lying, harsh words, or laziness), confess it to them as well.

James 5:16 says to confess your sins so that you may be healed. Healing starts when you drag the thing into the light before it has time to invite its friends. Don't wait for it to get worse. It will get worse. Kill it today.
