Faith, I now see, is " the substance of things hoped for," and not mere shadow. It is not less than sight, but more. Sight only shows the outward forms of things; faith gives the substance. You can rest on substance, feed on substance.
In the arena
Faith is not a lesser kind of knowing. Sight shows you what's in front of you, but faith lays hold of what is real but unseen. And what is real can bear weight. Hebrews 11:1 calls faith the substance of things hoped for.
Substance. You can stand on substance. So stand. Pick one promise from Scripture and rest on it like it's load-bearing. Maybe it's Romans 8:28, that God is working all things for your good. Maybe it's Lamentations 3:22-23, that his mercies are new this morning. Read it throughout the day and renew your faith, knowing that it points to something real.
